#175: What Parents Need To Know About Why Teens Use Substances (plus, ways to prevent substance use)
I've had some fabulous guests in the past who've done a wonderful job addressing substance use in adolescents (Kriya Lendzion in episodes 42 and 43 and Brenda Zane in episode 122) and I hope to be able to expand on this vast issue.
Today, we start off talking about the adolescent brain, why it's so prone to risky behaviors like dabbling in substances, why it's so much easier to become dependent on those substances, plus some of the things you can do to try to prevent that from happening.
Future episodes in this series will cover risk and protective factors, what you can do when you discover your teen may be using, and what to do if they appear to have a real problem with substances.
