Speaking of Teens
Episode #48: The Healing Power of Emotional Awareness with Vincent VanOhm
It’s hard to overemphasize the importance of emotion in our lives. Our emotions give us direction, they tell us what’s important to us – they can even change our physiology and make us sick, not to mention to huge impact they have on our relationships, including those with our teenagers.
Some of us are more aware of our emotions as we’re experiencing them, than others. But there’s a big difference in being aware of our emotions in the moment and understanding why that emotion cropped up to begin with. Emotionally charged situations and traumatic events from our past can subconsciously impact our thoughts, our current emotions, our body, and our interactions with family and friends as well.
Are there certain interactions with your teenager that make you angrier than you think reasonable? Are there certain things they do or say, or certain situations that upset you or make you more nervous than others, but you don’t understand why? Do you have weird unexplained physiological symptoms or chronic pain? Emotions are tricky. Unless we slow down and examine them – really dig into our history - we can go through life unaware and confused about so many of the reasons we think, feel, and behave the way we do (and even why we have these weird illnesses, physiological issues, and mental health disorders).
Join me today as I talk to Vincent VanOhm, expert on the mind-body connection and co-creator of a trauma healing modality called the Subconscious Imprinting Technique. V (as she prefers to be called), along with co-creator and wife, O’tion, has helped people all over the world discover the emotional root cause of their mental, emotional and physical suffering so they can heal themselves.
Today’s show is a call to action to work on your emotional health, not only for your sake, but for those you love.
