#87: Why Is Your Teenager Cutting Or Self-Harming And What Can You Do About It?

87

Warning – you’ll get a few “colorful” words in this episode.

Self-harm is such a scary topic and one that understandably freaks parents completely out. So, if your teen’s been self-harming/cutting, has anxiety or depression, has experienced trauma, has a difficult time managing their emotions…basically, if you have a teenager you need to listen to today’s episode. Being aware of this issue before it arises may help you prevent it.

My guest, Dr. JJ Kelly, literally wrote the book on self-harm and teens (Holy Sh*t My Kid is Cutting) and is an expert in using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help teens and young adults replace self-harm with the proper tools for dealing with their feelings.
